Frank Rothkamm Loses Vintage Musical Equipment In Witch Fire
Los Angeles - Wildfires raging across Southern California destroy Frank Rothkamm's archive of vintage electronic musical equipment, the same equipment used to create LAX, his newest CD, scheduled to be released this month.Mik Adams, long-time resident of Ramona, California, and keeper of the Frank Rothkamm archive, barely escaped with his life when the Witch Creek Fire destroyed his home and studio. There was no time to save hardware or software.
"What are the odds? Out of the 645 homes the fire has destroyed so far one housed all of my vintage stuff, like the custom programmed Atari MegaST and Lexicon LXP1 and all the multitrack masters", said Rothkamm shortly after he learned of the disaster. Fortunately, backups of many tracks were made previous to storing the archive in Ramona.
"Isn't it a coincidence that the moment I'm to release an album made entirely with vintage instruments, exactly all of these burn down?", noted Rothkamm, "And then LAX has this "Still Random OR Burial of Music" title for track 5. What kind of reality is this?"
LAX is to be released on October 30, 2007 by Flux Records (Archive of LA).
