Calculate and Reduce Server Energy Consumption with Free Online Sizing Tool
Freiburg/Birmingham, July 2nd, 2007 -- In a bid to promote global energy-efficient Server systems, the German-based company SizingLounge Ltd. has extended its online sizing service with a Total Cost of Ownership calculator. The new TCO tool calculates energy consumption per server as well as costs for storage, support, software and labour.Once you have chosen a software, the number of users and then clicked the size button, the results for Dell, HP, IBM and Sun servers appear - ordered by total costs. With these results, sizinglounge.com then allows you to compare the cost-efficiency of different system architectures and operating systems. You can compare the total costs of a central system with a grid environment or the total costs depending on the operating system: UNIX, Linux or Microsoft Windows.
The software portfolio contains the full range of databases, application servers and applications, such as Apache Web Server, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere, Oracle Database, Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle PeopleSoft, Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server and mySAP.
