New London location game, “The Chancellor’s Gold” offers players unique tour of London and chance to win real gold

3 May 2011, London: A location-based smartphone app and website game called “The Chancellor’s Gold” launches today offering players the chance to win real gold by identifying clues linked to London landmarks and locations throughout May to August.

Interactive Places, a developer of location-based experiences including smartphone apps, has developed The Chancellor’s Gold around the idea that the Chancellor has a gold stash hidden somewhere in London that players have to find before he does.

Seven location-based photo puzzles will be released each month via The Chancellor’s Gold smartphone app that people will need to solve before progressing to the next stage of the game. Players simply download “The Chancellor’s Gold” mobile app from Apple’s App Store to their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to play the location game while exploring London in person or online.

If the player is physically in London searching for location clues, they simply input details to their mobile phone as they solve the clues and further instructions are provided to the next puzzle. The Chancellor’s Gold website, Facebook page (“The Chancellor’s Gold”) and Twitter pages will support the game. Players around the world will be able to play The Chancellor’s Gold online using the website and Google Maps. The Facebook and Twitter pages will provide some clues and a place for discussion about the game.

Tom Bennett, founder, Interactive Places, said: “The Chancellor’s Gold offers people visiting London in person or online the chance to tour the city’s famous landmarks, and not so famous locations in a unique way, linked to a series of cryptic puzzles. The game adds a fun element to visiting London while also providing interesting background information on the location or landmark as part of the puzzles. The added bonus that you can win up to £8000 worth of gold is also a big incentive to give it a go.”

The Chancellor’s Gold game runs May to August and each month players have the chance of winning real gold worth £1000, with an August grand prize worth £5000. Some of the clues in the months, May to July, will help in the final August puzzles.
