East Midlands Trains

East Midlands Trains’ online Best Fare Finder scooped the award for Information Technology Excellence at the Rail Business Awards last night (Thursday 17 February).

Beating off competition from other train companies throughout the country, East Midlands Trains’ new and improved Best Fare Finder provides a quick and easy way for passengers to access the cheapest available fare for around 450 different UK train journeys.

East Midlands Trains’ Best Fare Finder compares ticket prices from multiple times of the day and days of the week on a single, easy to read page. This means if customers can be flexible about travel arrangements, they can quickly and easily find the cheapest train ticket available. There are no booking fees and no credit or debit card charges for tickets purchased through www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk making it cheaper than most other websites.

Marc Turley, Head of Marketing, who collected the award on behalf of East Midlands Trains, commented: “The launch of our online Best Fare Finder is the result of consultation, research and some very valuable feedback from our passengers. We’re confident that we now have an online tool that caters for the needs of our passengers, is easy and convenient to use as well as guaranteeing access to the cheapest available fares.

“The results of the latest National Passenger Survey show that our Best Fare Finder is clearly making a big difference, and demonstrates a 9% year on year increase in the number of passengers who said their ticket represented good value for money.

“We’re really proud to win this award which helps to show that our commitment to providing great value fares is starting to have a real impact.”

East Midlands Trains also picked up three highly commended awards for the launch of its Megabusplus.com service, which is helping to deliver combined coach and rail travel at a bargain price, and for the work it has been doing to improve the safety culture of the Nottingham drivers team through a unique development group. East Midlands Trains recent marketing campaign, which used famous twins Jedward to communicate messages about its great value fares, also received one of the highly commended awards.

East Midlands Trains is part of Stagecoach Group plc, which also operates South West Trains, Sheffield Supertram and Manchester Metrolink – plus bus services in the UK and the US.
