brandoscope launches with a global directory of companies

Tübingen, September 24, 2009: How do I spend my next summer vacation as CO2-neutral as possible? Which jeans are produced without child labor? For the rapidly growing number of strategic consumers, reliable answers to these questions are more important than ever. With a few mouse clicks on the brandoscope.com homepage, consumers can find companies that are satisfying the recognized requirements of sustainability.

In order for brandoscope to accommodate a company, the company itself or one of its products has to be certified with an independent seal. The 150 seals registered to date represent guidelines in the sectors relevant to sustainability in health, environmental protection, organic farming, regional products, carbon reduction, fair labor conditions, social responsibility, anti-corruption, fair trade and animal protection.

Someone who would like to travel CO2-neutrally simply selects "Travel & Holiday" and "Carbon Reduction" for his/her search and immediately receives a list of certified providers of carbon-neutral trips. One can find a pair of jeans that have been fabricated under fair labor conditions ("sweatshop free") just as easily.

"Many companies are well along the way to a sustainable economy and they demonstrate this with the seal of an independent organization", says Dr. Friedrich Petry, founder of brandoscope. "On brandoscope these trailblazers have the opportunity to make their activities known to a wide circle of potential customers".

At today's launch more than 1,500 companies are represented on the portal. The portal is available in ten languages, additional languages are planned. Interested companies can register free of charge on brandoscope and submit their certification. Organizations that award a seal in the field of sustainability itself can also register with brandoscope.

brandoscope GmbH was founded in the year 2008 and runs the global directory for companies that are working sustainably, as well as their products, at www.brandoscope.com. The objective of the brandoscope is to let consumers make the decision of how products are manufactured. This is being realised by the systematic involvement of independent third parties in the production companies.
