Press release from: 3S Industries AG

Lyss, September 24th. San-Du Solar Energy, a recently established Malaysian company, is setting up a module manufacturing facility in Malaysia with the strong support of the 3S group. At the EU PVSEC in Hamburg San-Du Solar Energy and the 3S Group signed a contract for a 25 MW turnkey solution for the first phase of production. 3S’s comprehensive package includes equipment, in-depth know-how transfer and service. Moreover, San-Du Solar Energy will profit from the proven fast-track certification process which 3S and TÜV Rheinland have successfully implemented in numerous projects with 3S customers.

San-Du Solar Energy and 3S have agreed on an aggressive schedule to ramp-up the module line in early 2010 in order to cope with increasing customer demand for BIPV and standard modules in local markets. “This will be the first crystalline module production line of this size in Malaysia, producing BIPV modules as well as standard modules. San-Du Solar Energy is looking forward to delivering high-quality modules for the customers soon,” says Michael Raber, General Manager Asia Pacific of the 3S group. After a thorough evaluation process, San-Du Solar Energy decided to choose 3S as their partner due to its experience in manufacturing BIPV modules, its outstanding quality and services and its direct local presence in Asia.

The proposed facility of 100,000 sq ft is located in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and in the vicinity of the Gambang Campus of the Technical University Malaysia Pahang (UMP). San-Du Solar Energy will profit from the proximity of the university, which is expected to offer plenty of co-operation opportunities in Research and Development, particularly in the field of renewable energies.
