Neukirchen-Vluyn, 14.03.2018. Since 1969, the name SCHWING Technologies has stood for plant construction and thermal cleaning systems. “Our customers throughout Germany, Switzerland, France and the Benelux countries additionally benefit from our professional cleaning services for tool and machinery parts contaminated with plastic residues,” explains Reinhold Bergmann, Head of SCHWING Cleaning Service. At the site in Neukirchen-Vluyn, he and coordinator Viktor Brandner are the experienced and committed leaders of the corporate services unit. For customers who do not intend to purchase their own dedicated cleaning system, SCHWING’s 16-strong team offers customized and demand-oriented cleaning services. And this is complemented daily by four service vehicles and pertinent logistics. With these resources, the team cleans more than 250,000 different workpieces annually to the most stringent quality and environmental standards.

The service is being used daily by many companies in the plastics and fibre industry, as well as the chemical and automotive industries. The SCHWING customers benefit from flexible and top quality professional cleaning; workpieces are ready fast and in a dependable manner for reuse in the manufacturing process. Obviously, time is money. “For nearly 30 years, we believe in cleaning that is both top notch and non-destructive, and we’re optimising it further,” emphasizes Reinhold Bergmann, “Individualized solutions and the best possible service are always our top priorities.” Born in Essen, Germany, Bergmann has been with the company for 31 years. With the formation of the cleaning service in 1990, he took on the role of Head of SCHWING Cleaning Service. With turnover in the millions of euros, the service branch has been contributing a substantial part of SCHWING total revenue and has been growing annually by about ten percent.

Thermal Cleaning Solutions
For all of SCHWING’s customers, our experts deal in cleaning all types of machinery and work tool parts contaminated by organic compounds and polymers. Parts with wrongly applied coatings and varnish are stripped, and defective electric motors are thermally cleaned for reuse in operation. At the site in Neukirchen-Vluyn, there are a total of nine cleaning lines dedicated for this purpose and other additional post-cleaning devices at our disposal. These include three non-destructive vacuum pyrolysis systems (VACUCLEAN) that are ideal solutions to clean pelletizing nozzles and heads, filter bundles, filter discs, blown film dies, extruder screws, and spinning, meltblown, or spunbond nozzles. Three fluidised bed lines (INNOVACLEAN) are ideally suited for all polymers, including high temperature plastics such as LCP, PEI, PPS and PI. These systems are used particularly by the SCHWING team to clean breaker plates, screw elements, special profile dies, hot-runner systems, spinning nozzles, and assembled spin packs. Three pyrolysis furnaces (MAXICLEAN) clean by thermal oxidation; this includes even large tools and components such as heat exchangers, extruder screws, large extrusion dies, pelletizing heads, and large hot-runners. Additionally, the company offers complete cleaning procedures from disassembly to thermal cleaning and post-treatment to reviews and inspections. Around the clock, on a 24/7 basis, our customers benefit from SCHWING service. This is where seven professionals bring their industry know-how and life-long experiences to benefit the customers. Even very sensitive parts and components, such as blow film dies, can be cleaned reliably with no residues. Interested customers are invited by the SCHWING team to test their own cleaning procedures and verify the cleaning quality at the corporate headquarters in Neukirchen-Vluyn.

SCHWING Logistics
“Everything must be clean and perfect before being promptly returned to the customer,” says Viktor Brandner, and not without a sense of pride. He started his training to industrial merchant at SCHWING in 2004. Since 2007, as Bergmann’s committed deputy, he contributes fresh ideas for novel situations. When devising and developing logistical processes, Mr. Brandner has been involved since 2012. The present logistical challenge: four SCHWING trucks are in use up to ten hours per day to pick up contaminated tools and machinery components throughout Germany and in neighbouring countries, and afterwards return the parts cleaned. But Brandner and his six drivers make sure that both internally and on the road, the process is smooth and efficient. In parallel, external forwarders are working steadily to move contaminated and cleaned parts from A to B. Currently Brandner is in the process of planning the next expansion of the vehicle fleet so best to cater to customer needs even more quickly and flexibly. “We have grown along with the vehicles,” Brandner prides himself, “and we are bound to continue.” He plans to use an additional vehicle in field services in the future in order to regularly visit customers and provide consultancy on the spot. This is how customer orientation comes first. And for the back office to function smoothly, in summer 2017, salesperson Diane Lechleiter was added as another asset for SCHWING Service customers.
