Garbsen, 17th September 2009 – Four weeks after the official release of Oxygen.next 42media group gives a first summary on its new web service: With more than 3,400 registered users from over 50 countries Oxygen.next is a great success. On the forum users provide insights into instore-TV projects that they’ve implemented so far by means of Oxygen.next. The 42media group developers are currently working on the open application programming interface (API) developers all over the world are waiting for.
The idea of providing a digital signage content management system as a free web service turned out to be extremely positive for the company from Garbsen, Germany. The number of visitors to the website www.oxygennext.com is constantly increasing, the forum has been brought to life only a few weeks after the start and first projects – even from overseas – are published.
„With Oxygen.next we’re reaching more than 80 % of the desired target group”, says Matthias Wagner, 42media group GmbH CEO. “For developers, administrators, advertising agencies, graphic artists and system houses Oxygen.next provides the ideal platform for bringing instore-TV to areas that just could not be reached with the existing solutions.”
In the small German hairdresser’s shop or in the fashion boutique in Buenos Aires – the posts on the forum show what’s possible with Oxygen.next, even without advanced computer skills. Within the target group technical knowledge does exist, though. Several forum users already posted exciting concepts of how to apply Oxygen.next but they have to wait for the API.
„The API will allow to develop own user interfaces adapted to the respective application purpose, for example”, says Wolfgang Berndt, 42media group Chief Software Architect. “Therefore the API is the next giant leap in the development of Oxygen.next and we’re working on it with full speed.”
To a large extent the improvements since the release are based on suggestions from the forum. Expert users and the 42media group development team exchange their thoughts on the platform and thus find even unconventional solutions that might as well be integrated into the business solution “Oxygen Media Platform.”
„Four weeks after the start of Oxygen.next we are very happy with the results and we will keep working on the spread and market penetration”, says Peter Dombrowski, Director Marketing and Sales at 42media group. “Based on the current conversion and growth rates in about 6 months 42media group will run the largest digital signage network in Europe with Oxygen.next. The use of Oxygen.next in the domestic sector will be the next big challenge then.”
