Press release from: ENENSYS Technologies

Once again, ENENSYS Technologies and Arqiva partner to showcase the significant DVB-T2 technology advantages that allow more TV services over digital terrestrial networks while improving the user experience. Since April, Arqiva has been transmitting a live DVB-T2 signal for the Ofcom pilot from Crystal Palace in south London utilizing the ENENSYS DVB-T2 modulator. At the IBC, the DVB-T2 signal is broadcast by Arqiva from the Amsterdam Tower and covers the whole exhibition center, enabling 4 HD services to be received from one DVB-T2 multiplex.

Following the success of its DVB-T2 modulator with the Ofcom pilot, ENENSYS unveils at IBC its complete end-to-end solution for DVB-T2 broadcasting with the release of the world's first DVB-T2 Gateway, NN6-T2Gateway and the first DVB-T2 analyzer and professional receiver. The ENENSYS DVB-T2 end-to-end solution relies on broadcast grade equipment that is ready for commercial deployment. The new DVB-T2 offering completes the ENENSYS Digital TV offer that ranges from SFN Adaption, with innovative 1+1 seamless switch-over redundancy solution, to IP distribution that secure SFN delivery over IP networks, up to transmission sites with various products including broadcast grade modulators and SFN synchronization equipment.

Mike Brooks, head of technical development for DVB-T2 at Arqiva, said: “The work we have done with ENENSYS has been a crucial precursor to the roll-out of terrestrial HD in the UK. We are now preparing for the first official services starting in December and are delighted to be demonstrating this pioneering work at IBC with ENENSYS and our other partners Tandberg Television, dB Broadcast, Harris Corporation and the all-important content courtesy of the BBC.”

In addition to the DVB-T2 live broadcasting over all the RAI, ENENSYS is also collaborating with the DVB project office to demonstrate the DVB-T2 technology with set-top-box manufacturers. “The Second generation Digital Terrestrial TV (DVB-T2) technology is ready for commercial deployment and will be widely available soon since digital switch-over is coming in Europe and elsewhere”, said Laurent ROUL, head-end product line manager at ENENSYS Technologies. “It is a great opportunity to provide for more services and a better user experience. It is really complementary to the first generation DTTV (DVB-T). One can imagine a gradual migration to DVB-T2 for HD content and high-end set-top-boxes. The move to all-digital transmission will certainly help to boost the DVB-T2 market.”

ENENSYS Technologies has years of experience in the design and manufacturing of Digital TV transmission systems.
Offer ranges from Mobile TV, Digital Terrestrial TV, IP Distribution to Test & Monitoring solutions, with high grade services and trainings. Covered standards include DVB-H, T-DMB, DVB-T, DVB-T2, DTMB, Digital Cable, ...
