Princeton NJ Area Psychiatrist Delves into the Modern Communication Age

Princeton, NJ – September 3, 2009 - Text, Phone or Talk: What Really Works? For the past year, the public has been bombarded with stories about Internet use, cell phones, Twitter, Facebook, Wii, and the like. But no one has thoroughly explored how the modern electronic age has impacted our personal and business lives -- until now.

Board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Peter Crist, who is also a business consultant as well as president of the American College of Orgonomy (ACO), will address this critical topic as part of the ACO’s ongoing series of Social Orgonomy talks on Saturday, October 3rd. His compelling presentation, “Text, Phone, or Talk? Communication Confusion in Our Electronic Age,” will explore the functional and optimal use of written, phone and face-to-face communication, and how each relates to basic human communication and genuine interpersonal contact.

Dr. Crist will illustrate how from the dawn of Man to the 21st century, communication has evolved in remarkable leaps. Using examples from print and broadcast media as well as his clinical and business consulting practices, he will address the question: Is modern man trading intimacy and genuine contact for the immediacy of instant communication? These and other topics will be explored in his presentation at the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts, 102 Witherspoon St., Princeton, NJ from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Dr. Crist graduated from U.C.L.A. with an A.B. in Zoology and an M.D. degree. He is board certified in psychiatry, internal medicine, and medical orgonomy with a private practice in Ringoes, New Jersey where he treats infants, children, adults, couples, and families. He is also president and CEO of Ergonexus, LLC, a business consulting practice providing character assessment of executive candidates, corporate culture evaluations and advice on improving interpersonal communication. Dr. Crist is president of the American College of Orgonomy (ACO), a non-profit, educational and scientific organization. He is on the faculty of the ACO training program for medical orgonomists and is chairman of their social orgonomy training committee. He has spoken in the U.S. and abroad and conducted seminars on a wide range of topics as well as published numerous articles in the Journal of Orgonomy. The American College of Orgonomy (ACO) is a nonprofit educational and scientific organization located near Princeton, New Jersey, that is devoted to setting and maintaining standards for work in the field of orgonomy, the science developed by Dr. Wilhelm Reich.

The College conducts a postgraduate medical orgonomy training program for qualified physicians and psychiatrists. Medical orgonomists offer a unique form of treatment that is based on a scientific understanding of the connection between the mind and the body. This approach effectively treats a wide range of emotional illnesses, usually without medication.

Elsworth F. Baker, M.D., a psychiatrist who trained and worked with Dr. Reich, founded the ACO in 1968. Reich, a student and colleague of Sigmund Freud, discovered that all living things contain an energy that he called, “orgone energy.” He originated the science of orgonomy based on his scientific observations. Today, this science informs an energetic understanding and approach to psychiatry, medicine, biology, the physical and social sciences, and atmospheric environmental research.

The Social Orgonomy Training Program of the ACO offers training in the application of orgonomic principles within the social realm. In addition to its professional educational programs, the College sponsors conferences, a speakers’ bureau, lectures, and laboratory courses for professional and interested laymen.
