Abstract
Global wheat market revenue amounted to 163,482 million USD in 2015, going down by -17.7% against the previous year level. Overall, global wheat market continues to indicate a pronounced growth: the market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the market revenue increased by +53% from the previous year level. In that year, the global wheat market revenue attained its maximum of 217,518 million USD. From 2012 to the end of the period under review, the total wheat market revenue failed to regain its former peak level.

Over the analyzed period, an increase in global wheat production was primarily driven by population growth and growth of food production. Furthermore, these key drivers are expected to continue promoting the wheat output in the immediate term.

The countries with the highest levels of production in 2015 were China (128,244 thousand tonnes), India (95,717 thousand tonnes), Russia (71,832 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 39% of total output. From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates in almond production among the main producing countries was attained by Russia (+4.8% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The world wheat harvested area amounted to 220,619 thousand ha in 2015, which was almost equal to the previous year figure. The harvested area indicated a slight increase over the period under review, representing a compound annual growth rate of +0.2% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern was relatively stable throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the total wheat harvested area peaked in 2009, falling back in the following year. From 2010 to 2015, the total wheat harvested area fluctuated at lower levels.

The global average wheat yield amounted to 34 thousand hg/ha in 2015, rising by 4.3% from the previous year figure. The yield figures recorded an upward trend over the period under review, with a compound annual growth rate standing at +2.5% from 2007 to 2015. These yield figures maintained, all in all, a stable trend pattern throughout the analyzed period. The highest wheat yields were recorded in 2015. Albeit an intensification of modern agricultural technics use, the future yield figures subject to a substantional risk of adverse weather conditions.
