15% Reduction of Physical Vouchers

At TIM Brazil, Orga Systems’ Virtual Voucher underlines cost-benefit ratio

Paderborn (Germany), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), 1 September 2009 – The use of its internationally awarded online recharge system TIM PDV (Ponto de Venda), shows significant business results at tier 1 operator TIM Brazil. It facilitates the subscriber life-cycle management and also helps to preserve the environment, since consumption of plastic and paper is reduced.

More than 100 thousand POS within 17 months
Launched in August last year, TIM Brazil performs online recharge transactions via USSD (Unstructured Supplementary Service Data) using its own GSM network, by way of commands on the assigned street seller vending device, thus rendering unnecessary physical cards.

From August 2008 to June 2009, TIM PDV has made it possible to reduce the production of traditional physical cards by 15%, and it already accounts for a monthly decrease by 54% of the cards sold by TIM Brazil.

At the end of 2008, 30 thousand POS (Points of Sale) were already offering this solution. Today there are 60+ thousand and the forecast is that, by December 2009, there will be a total of 100 thousand active vending devices.

Clear business values for operator and subscriber
TIM PDV is based on Orga Systems’ Virtual Voucher solution. It facilitates the reduction of CO2 emissions resulting from the transport of cards. Also it reduces the risk of theft significantly. Finally, it brings along greater availability of the product on the market.
