Pilani home town to Birla family is famous for several schools, CSIR Laboratory CEERI, the Birla Museum and BITS which is one among the top ranking universities of India renowned world over.

Smt Jamuna Mishra Academy (JMA) established in the year 2004 which has been making rapid strides in early childhood education is presently one of the most sought after schools at Pilani Rajasthan.

JMA which started in 2004 with an enrollment of 60 students for the Nursery, LKG, First Junior and Class1 has grown today till Class VI with well over 5 times the enrollment. While the school admits both boys and girls, the girl student enrollment has been steadily rising every year and is presently over 40% of the total strength which itself is a matter of pride in a state which had alarmingly low record of girl’s education.

On August 15, 2009 Smt Booma Natarajan Principal of JMA Academy welcomed the gathering stating that India obtained its Independence on this very day in 1947 and became free from British rule, free to celebrate its diversity and differences, its many languages, faiths and cultures; free to be different and respected for it.

Shri Umesh Singh Rathore retired DSP was the chief guest for the function. Mr Rathore had his intermediate education from erstwhile Birla College Pilani and was a student of commerce. He joined the Rajasthan Police in 1959 and had posting at Sri Ganganagar for 28 years. He has an exemplary service record studded with 35 cash rewards and 50 commendation certificates.

After hoisting the flag and singing of the National Anthem, Mr Rathore inspected the parade and watched the march past. The performance by the school band drew loud applause from the audience. After the dumble drill display by the students of JMA, one of the girl students recited a Hindi poem which was appreciated by one and all.

After the group song performance by the students, the chief guest addressed the gathering and urged the young boys and girls of the school to become useful citizens for the service of the nation. Mr Rathore had words of praise for the Principal and teachers of JMA who as a team had worked hard to make the school one among the top ranking schools in Pilani. He also gave special prizes for the best performers in various categories.

When the celebrations ended, the parents and children who had come for the function left with beaming faces and pride that they were part of an institution which is a jewel in the crown among the schools at Pilani.
