The ocean will survive only 500 more years.

The Nippon Foundation Nereus Program symposium was held in Tokyo, Yohei Sasakawa, Chairman of The Nippon Foundation noted the sense of crisis: “If current conditions continue, the ocean will only survive 500, 1,000, or at most 2,000 years, which is a blink of the eye in terms of the earth’s history. At this symposium, studies were presented by Mr. Paul Greenburg, a New York Times columnist, best-selling author, and a TED Talks speaker, and other researchers at prestigious institutions such as Harvard University, University of Ottawa, University of British Columbia,

NEREUS was the old man of the sea, and the god of the sea's rich bounty of fish.
