MedAware Systems Launches Comprehensive Apheresis Research

MedAware Systems, Inc. announced today it is launching the world’s most comprehensive database of evidence on Apheresis, available through its SOHInfo™ division. Data have been meticulously extracted from over 2,300 clinical trials, cohort studies, registries, reviews and other published works, spanning medical journals worldwide. The Company continuously updates this database as new studies are published.

Apheresis is a medical technology in which the blood of a donor or patient is passed through an apparatus that separates out one component of the blood and returns the remainder to the patient or donor.

This database is poised to advance evidence-based practice in the rapidly expanding field of transfusion and apheresis medicine.

The Apheresis database is fully searchable, with previously unreachable patient, procedure, and outcome level data curated for immediate access. It includes a platform of analytic tools for performing routine literature reviews and essential summary and bivariate analyses on thousands of variable combinations. Currently, over 86,000 data points are available for quantitative analysis.

“The database is designed to identify trends and drive meta-analysis across thousands of variables using all available clinical science” says President and Chief Operating Officer, William Kent. He continues, “For the first time, industry leaders and clinical experts are invited to take advantage of all existing published data to support competitive marketing and product development efforts, intelligent surveillance, and strategic regulatory action. The Apheresis dataset is positioned to become a pivotal component of research and marketing infrastructures. With these data, significant and previously unknown opportunities for innovation and product development are able to be quickly discovered.”
