Leading publishing house to announce new food and agriculture magazine

AgroPress of Switzerland will introduce a new magazine and communication platform at Fruit Logistica 2018. The new magazine covers the future of agriculture and food. It will be published six times a year with contributions from some of the most prominent thinkers in food, food service, agriculture and agriculture technology. "It was time to create something that fits today's agriculture and food industry. Until now it looked like two separate worlds: The reality of an efficient agriculture industry and the notion of the consumer. It is time that consumers and the industry understand each other better. And it is time to talk about the challenges and the potential for agriculture and food in the near future. In the next 40 years humanity will have to produce the equivalent of all of the food produced in the last 10,000 years. Quite a challenge. We are offering the magazine that addresses these topics for the industry in a smart and independent way. I found that most industry magazines have become very boring. As a person in the perishable industry I felt they are not making me smarter. They are just printing press releases and real or hidden editorials. But our industry needs real journalism. This magazine will be as smart and disruptive as the agriculture and food industry has become.", says Axel Breuer, CEO of AgroPress, a Swiss publishing house that was founded in 1943. AgroPress is well-known for its produce trade publication 'The Fruit World'. Founded as the magazine of the Swiss fruit trades association in the middle of the 2nd world war the Fruit World rose to the global number one trade magazine for fruit and fresh produce in general. In the 1980s the Fruit World had more than 400 pages per issue. Today it is available as print subscription and will soon be available in digital form for subscription for iOs and Android later in 2018. While Switzerland only plays a minor role in fresh produce markets the magazine is still a benchmark for the global agriculture trade. AgroPress also publishes the leading magazine on nuts and dried fruit 'The Clipper' for the raw material and snack industry and several other publications about Food Waste, country specials and a variety of corporate publishing and PR services. "Food and agriculture are at the center of our existence. They are defining our culture. We felt our readers wanted a magazine that offers the technological, the cultural, the political, even religious aspects of agriculture and food", says Breuer. The new magazine will offer some innovations for publication. The presentation of the new magazine will take place during Fruit Logistica at an invitation-only evening event. Its title, structure and main authors will remain secret until the launch event.
