Extentia launches ‘Enki’ online e-Learning portal

Based on the flexible SharePoint platform, Enki is easily tailored for individual customers – such as school boards, colleges, training institutes, and corporate businesses – and is quick to deploy. The portal supports a wide range of content types and enables educators and training managers to assign tests, quizzes and assignments to learners and students. Participants are able to view course content and study learning modules according to their requirements.
Extentia has already started initial custom deployments of Enki – in both school and corporate environments. More solutions will follow in the coming months.
Enki follows other recent Extentia releases in the education sector, including the iPhone-based iWordCards application – designed for those learning to read and those wanting to expand their vocabulary and reading speed.
Umeed Kothavala (Director, Extentia) outlines the key benefits of the portal: “Because Enki is web-based, we can ensure that the content is accessible from almost anywhere. Learning systems demand rich content – the ability to work with images, video, multimedia – and Enki really delivers on that score. The product is also designed for rapid deployment, so we can reach more users more quickly and efficiently than ever.”
Extentia has extensive experience in the sector, having previously built and designed a wide range of education-based offerings, including student administration, monitoring and reporting systems, course management and assessment systems, and several custom e-learning solutions.
Extentia also undertakes design and development work for education specialists, creating and supporting products and services for established players in the education sector.
This experience enables Extentia to meet the needs of customers and end users. “It was a pleasure working with Extentia for the deployment of our system,” says Gennadiy Sayenko (Technology Specialist, NYU School of Medicine). “Their understanding of our requirements and those of end users was crucial and enabled us to rapidly roll out our systems.”
Attendees of the Three Rivers Educational Technology Conference (TRETC) – held in Pennsylvania in November 2008 – were the first to get a preview of Enki before the official release.
“It was a great opportunity to showcase the Enki e-learning portal, and demonstrate the potential benefits directly to administrators and educators,” explains Preeti Gupte (Business Unit Head, Extentia). “The response was overwhelmingly positive.”
