ORANGE, Calif., (December 18, 2017) – To bring holiday joy to kids receiving treatment for cancer at St. Joseph Hospital’s Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment Center throughout the year, boxes full of toys were delivered to the center on Friday, Dec. 15th by approximately 25 representatives from Milan Capital Management, who donned elf and Santa costumes to make the delivery. The more than 500 toys were collected during a recent toy drive held by the commercial real estate investment company at their various offices to bring a little faith and happiness this year to pediatric cancer patients.

“As part of our ongoing efforts to support the communities in which we own property, Milan Capital Management has committed resources to a number of worthy causes in southern California,” said Christopher Nichelson, President of Milan Capital Management, Inc. “But none has been more meaningful for us than our efforts to bring a happy holiday to the children receiving care at the Center for Cancer Prevention and Treatment at St. Joseph Hospital.”

In addition to patients and their families who were in attendance, representatives receiving the donation on behalf of St. Joseph Hospital included Tom Hill, Vice President of Operations, Kelly Logan, Manager, Corporate Donor Relations, Sarah Jacoby, Director of Development, Donn Grizzle, VP, Advocacy and Strategic Initiatives, Credit Union of Southern California and SJO Foundation Board Member, Myriam Garcia, Manager Radiation Oncology and pediatric radiation oncologist, Dr. Venita Williams.

“Our ‘Children’s Toy Chest’ brings a lot of light to what can feel like a dark situation for many of these kids and their families,” said Dr. Venita Williams. “We’re so grateful to the Milan team for their support of the kids in our community; these toys will bring a many wide smiles to courageous faces.”

At least 60 children receive radiation cancer treatment at St. Joseph Hospital every year. The toy drive will restock the shelves in the cancer center to help give the children holiday cheer this season and beyond.
