Banasthali Bags Double Honours - 25th Business School Affaire Dewang Mehta National Education Awards

Throughout the 82-year history, Banasthali has built not only national but also international reputation for achieving excellence in its mission and vision for synthesis of spiritual values and scientific achievements of the East and the West.

If the IT industry in India today is a name to reckonwith in global arena, it indeed owes a lot for its dizzying heights to National Association of Software and Service Companies – Nasscom and its first executive Director `software evangelist' Dewang Mehta (1962 – 2001) who shall always be remembered by the IT fraternity as the man who brought credibility and respect to the role of a lobbyist in India, remained accessible to the media at all times and was one of the champions who worked towards transforming India into one of the key players in the global software arena.

The patron for the award is Dr Harish Mehta Chairman, Onward Technologies Ltd who was also founder member of Nasscom and its former chairman. The 25th Business School Affaire Dewang Mehta National Education Awards presented by Hindustan Unilever Ltd took place on 25 Nov 2017 at Taj Lands End Mumbai in a glittering function.

The B School of Banasthali aptly named WISDOM which stands for Women’s Institute for Studies in Development Oriented Management has a Vision to prepare women for enlightened leadership roles in all walks of life. The Institute's mission is to contribute towards development of women leadership that would play active role in society-building, entrepreneurship and management of organizations and institutions in consonance with nation's spiritual and cultural heritage and its own context. Dr Harsh Purohit Professor of Finance and Dean FMS - WISDOM, State Bank of India School of Commerce & Banking Banasthali Vidyapith received the award for Outstanding Contribution to Education at 25th Business School Affaire Dewang Mehta National Education Awards.

According to Global Women’s Entrepreneurship Research, Women are 1.17 times more likely than men to create social ventures rather than only economic ventures, and 1.23 times more likely to pursue environmental ventures than economic-focused ventures. Based on strong research and innovation ecosystem, forward plan, quality of proposed team in terms of qualifications and experience, sector focus, rural area location, overall infrastructure, capability to support startups, number of patents etc, its indeed a matter of great pride that Banasthali was chosen in 2017 by NITI Aayog in the first list of 10 institutions from 3658 aspiring ones for hosting the 10-crore Atal Incubation Centre – AIC. It is indeed a matter of pride that AIC Banasthali was declared as the Best Incubation Centre for Women and CEO AIC Abhishek Pareek received the same at the 25th Business School Affaire Dewang Mehta National Education Awards.
