He loves the world's highest mountains and enjoys relaxing at walking tours in the Alps: Germany's most successful mountaineer Ralf Dujmovits is visiting Zell am See-Kaprun on 27th June 2009.

Ralf Dujmovits is considered the most successful German alpinist. During his career the 48-year-old has already conquered 13 of the world's 14 summits of above 8,000 metres. He may have an innate passion for the highest mountains, but when it comes to relaxation he appreciates the Alps a lot, too. 'Before and after extreme excursions I really enjoy getting away from it all and taking in the beauty of nature.' One of his favourite destinations to do so is Zell am See-Kaprun. At the end of June he grabs the opportunity to come to the region once again. During the first Hiking Season Opening from 25th to 28th June 2009 he is giving a multimedia presentation sharing his experiences with fans of hiking and mountaineering.

In his presentation 'The passion of living above 8,000 metres' scheduled for Saturday, 27th June, Dujmovits tells his audience about the beginning of his career and the tough but rewarding ascents of K2 and Nanga Parbat. In addition, he wants to convey 'his love for being out and about in the mountains.' To get a taste of this, no one has to set out to climb Mount Everest right away. The summits of Austria offer a perfect terrain to enjoy spending some time under the wide open sky, too. Dujmovits knows what he is talking about. For many years he has been in a relationship with Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner who comes from Upper Austria. 'My wife represents 100 per cent Austria for me! She has carried me away with her love for her home country and made me a true fan of Austria.'

But this is not the only reason why the mountaineer and certified mountain and ski guide looks forward to coming to the Alpine republic at the end of June. 'It is the combination of an extraordinary touristic infrastructure, the manifold leisure-time
activities and the sound Alpine world in Zell am See-Kaprun which has an irresistible appeal to me.' He is especially fond of Kitzsteinhorn. Already as a teenager, Dujmovits spent one weekend on the local mountain of Kaprun with the skiing club of this home town of Bühl: 'An amazing skiing weekend I still remember very well.' He only knows about Schmittenhöhe from stories of friends, though. 'A real pity', he says.

But during the last weekend of June the chances are that this will change. The local mountain of Zell contributes many events to the programme of the Hiking Season Opening such as herb, legends, and pleasure walks on Saturday. Guests can look forward to Nordic-walking tours, a treasure hunt with a GPS receiver as well as to a mountain mass followed by a morning get-together on Sunday. All this may be a reason for Dujmovits to take the clients of his event company 'AMICAL alpin' to Zell am See some day. 'We will definitely give it a though', Dujmovits says with a twinkle in his eye…

The holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun with its 14,000 beds and two million overnight stays per year is one of the most important holiday destinations in Austria. The beautiful flora and fauna in the Alpine panorama and Lake Zell guarantee relaxation and well-being. Golfing, hiking, and bathing are at the focus for the summer time programme, but visitors can choose from more than 40 other activities as well. During the cold season, fun on skis and boards make sure that there is no dull moment. Skiers can comfortably reach the 138 kilometres of slopes covered with powder snow by one of the 54 lifts. Snowboarders enjoy the perfect conditions of the Snowpark on the 2,600-metre-high glacier plateau. Even in the summer you can swish down the slopes here. And family-friendliness is a top priority in Zell am See and Kaprun. For this reason, the region has already received various awards.
