Hasselt, 5 of May 2009 - The Radisson SAS Hotel in Hasselt, radissonblu.com/hotel-hasselt received the Groene Sleutel (Green Key) nomination: the international quality mark for companies active in tourism who are serious regarding the environment and their environment actions can be controlled. The Radisson SAS Hotel in Hasselt is now the first, officially Green Hotel in the province of Limburg !
As part of the worldwide Responsible Business politic of the Rezidor Hotel Group, where the Radisson SAS Hotel in Hasselt is part of, the hotel has worked months to fulfill all the strict environmental requirements to receive this so important quality mark.
The Groene Sleutel (Green Key) is an international quality mark for environment-friendly tourism companies. Companies who receive the Green Key prove their engagement to work in a durable manner. They carefully deal with water, energy and detritus, without admitting on comfort.
Since the opening in 2006, the Radisson SAS Hotel in Hasselt is known for his innovative, creative and dynamic approach and respect for the environment.
In 2008 for example, was spend more than 29.000 EUR to make the Hotel even more environment friendly and to fulfill the requirements of the Green Key.
An interface was placed between the air-conditioning system and the reservation room to assure an optimal temperature in the rooms, all traditional bulbs where replaced by energy saving lights and a thermologic audit was done to reduce the loss of temperature. An air curtain was placed in the lobby and buttons to reduce the pressure in the showers.
These changes made that the energy consumption in the second half of 2008 was reduced with 14 %.
We motivate our employees to use public transportation or a bicycle to come to work. The hotel also organizes every year an environment month to create environment awareness among guests and employees. Our Hotel has an environment coordinator who follows the actions to take up closely.
