Abstract
Global plums and sloes market revenue amounted to 12,770 million USD in 2015, waning by -8.2% against the previous year level. Overall, global plums and sloes market continues to indicate a noticeable growth: the market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2008, when the market revenue increased by +19% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global plums and sloes market attained its maximum revenue of 13,913 million USD in 2014. From 2015 to the end of the period under review, the total plums and sloes market revenue failed to regain its former peak level.

Over the analyzed period, an increase in global plums and sloes production was primarily driven by popularity of healthy eating. Furthermore, these key drivers are expected to continue promoting the plums and sloes output in the immediate term. This general positive trend was largely conditioned by a measured expansion of the harvested area and solid gains of the yield figures.

The world plums and sloes harvested area amounted to 2,567 thousand ha in 2015, which was 1.8% more than the previous year figure. The harvested area indicated a slight increase over the period under review, representing a compound annual growth rate of +0.8% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern was relatively stable throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the total plums and sloes harvested area peaked in 2013, falling back in the following year.

The global average plums and sloes yield amounted to 46 thousand hg/ha in 2015, rising by 2.6% from the previous year figure. The yield figures recorded an upward trend over the period under review, with a compound annual growth rate standing at +1.7% from 2007 to 2015. These yield figures maintained, all in all, a stable trend pattern throughout the analyzed period. The highest plums and sloes yields were recorded in 2015. Albeit an intensification of modern agricultural technics use, the future yield figures subject to a substantional risk of adverse weather conditions.
