Children’s Healthcare Requirements Escalate in Middle Eastern Hospitals as Technology Changes

Orange County, Ca – Laguna Niguel-based Telemed Foundation will host an event to raise funds for Cairo, Egypt-based Abu El-Reesh, the most prominent Children’s Hospitals of its kind in the Middle East. This noteworthy event will be held on October 21, 2017 in Newport Beach’s lavish Duke Hotel.

The three pediatrics hospitals that comprise the Cairo University affiliated Abu El-Reesh Children's Hospitals treat approximately 1 million children annually in their out-patient clinic alone. With the original hospital established in 1928, funds will be raised to upgrade aging infrastructure and medical equipment, increase the number of nurseries and beds in the Intensive Care Unit, and train quality nursing staff to continue providing the best care possible to their young patients.

Egypt is one of the areas in the developing world that need the talents and experience of the elite medical universities of the world. Telemed Foundation facilitates this need by utilizing technology as the means of serving this global expertise out to hospitals in the Nile River region.
Abu El-Reesh El-Mounira Pediatric Hospitals
Established in 1928 as the first of Cairo's Abu El-Reesh pediatric hospitals, El-Mounira offers a full range of pediatric in-patient and out-patient care through its specialized departments, treating more than 250,000 patients per year.

With its nine-floor facility campus, El-Mounira encompasses 258 beds, five intensive care units, and six operating theaters (two in use and four currently undergoing renovation). The hospital offers specialized departments in hepatology, nephrology, renal transplant and biopsy, neurology, hematology and bone marrow transplant, endocrinology and diabetes, and gastroenterology. Specialized out-patient clinics include a nephrology clinic, neurology clinic, ENT clinic, surgical clinic, and gastroenteritis clinic. The clinics are operated by doctors and staff members, and medication is free of charge in most departments.

Key Note Speaker to Dazzle, Egyptian Style

Dr. Zahi Hawass will be presented with the Telemed Foundation Man of the Year Award. Former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities and Director of Excavations at Giza, Saqqara, Bahariya Oasis, and the Valley of Kings, Dr. Hawass received his PhD in 1987 from the University of Pennsylvania where he studied as a Fulbright Fellow. He has written numerous scholarly articles and books, and is a highly respected Egyptologist. Known for his charisma and ability to reach out to the public, for more than thirty years he has been raising awareness of archaeology and the preservation of Egypt’s precious heritage.

Dr. Hawass will be the keynote speaker at this event, presenting new important discoveries in ancient Egyptian history such as the discovery of the mummy of Queen Hatshepsut, the mummies of the family of King Tutankhamun, and the mystery of the death of Ramses III. Dr. Hawass will also discuss new discoveries around the great pyramid and the Sphinx, new tombs found at Saqqara, the secret doors inside the Great Pyramid of Khufu, and will introduce his excavation in search of the tomb of the magical queen Cleopatra.

Speakers at this event will include H.E. Nabila Makram Abd El-Chahid, the Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, Laila Pence, President and Co-founder of Pence Wealth Management, a Registered Investment Advisory Firm, and Dr. Adel Eldahmy, the founder of the Telemed Foundation and your host.
