SMIITY AR Valongo will be presented this Thursday at the ECOXXI 2017 Ceremony

Lisbon, September 25th 2017: Following the ECOXXI event of 2016, mobinteg awarded the municipality of Valongo with an Augmented Reality mobile app: SMIITY AR. And, this Thursday (September 28), the app will be officially presented at the ECOXXI 2017 Ceremony, of which the Portuguese company is partner and where it will, once again, reward one of the participating municipalities.

SMIITY AR gives the citizen or tourist the possibility to view, through the smartphone’s camera, points of interest (POIS) around them, based on their geographic location, which will thus generate an Augmented Reality experience. To aid orientation, the app has a compass in the upper left corner of the screen.

The Smart Cities concept gains a new dimension with the SMIITY AR platform, making the city communicate with the user while simultaneously empowering local tourism and economy. For each point of interest a description of the location and/or contacts will be provided and, in parallel, the user can filter these points by distance or type.

In Valongo, the first municipality to integrate SMIITY AR, citizens and tourists can already know what the county has to offer, from parks, stadiums, monuments and leisure spaces, both in the city and in the belonging parishes, such as Ermesinde, Campo, Alfena and Sobrado.

mobinteg returns to award one of the municipalities at the ECOXXI Ceremony

mobinteg rejoins the ECOXXI awards as a partner and will be responsible for awarding one of the prizes. Like in 2016, the technology company will offer the implementation of SMIITY AR in one of the participating municipalities.

The prize will be awarded by lottery to one of the municipalities that have shown an interest in using the mobinteg application.

Organized by the ABAE (Blue Flag Association of Europe), the ECOXXI 2017 Ceremony, which takes place on September 28 and joins this year with the 10th anniversary of

Greenfest, aims to recognize the work carried out by the municipality during the year 2016, in for sustainable development.

The purpose of this ceremony is to reward the most sustainable municipalities in the country. This year will be present 53 municipalities.
