Every educational institution in India today has a name but only very few like Banasthali established eighty two years ago have a legacy and heritage. The evolution of Banasthali is nothing short of a fairy tale in which the parents freedom fighter and Gandhian Pt Hiralal Shastri and Padma Bhushan & Jamnalal Bajaj Award winner Smt Ratan Shastri took up the mission with passion for setting up an institution at Banasthali to fulfill the desire of their beloved daughter Shantabai who died at a very young age but had sown the seeds of a school built with mud bricks made by her own hands for educating girls.

Banasthali has been following the tradition to celebrate the birthday of Shantabai as Founder’s Day as per the Indian calendar which falls on the First day of Navratras every year. For 2017, it was on 21 Sep which also coincided with United Nations International Peace Day. The mission and vision of Banasthali includes synthesis of spiritual values and scientific achievements of the East and the West.

On 21 Sep 2017, in a grand function organized to celebrate the Banasthali Founder’s Day, Vice Chancellor Prof Aditya Shastri led a group of students who rendered song in praise of Shantabai followed by resolution to uphold the Banasthali system of education . Banasthali President Prof Chitra Purohit reiterated the evolution of Banasthali from its humble beginnings and emphasized on the mission and vision of the institution including the panchmukhi shiksha which imparts wisdom, character and discipline in enrolled students. She urged the students to make use of the facilities and infrastructure available for making and shaping their career goals.
