Hardeep Chandpuri attends Media Fest – Soch 2009
Radio Jockeys trained by the Academy of Broadcasting
This annual festival has evolved over the years and helps bring practising media professionals and students onto the same platform wherein they can interact and get insight into the working and challenges of working in a media organisation.
This year besides Hardeep Singh Chandpuri, some other distinguished members of the media fraternity were also on the panel like Mr. Amar Chandel, Associate Editor of The Tribune, Mr. Arun Johar, Joint Director Information & Public Relations, Govt. of Haryana and Mr. Jyoti Kamal, Chief of Bureau, Network 18.
Hardeep Chandpuri said that the medium of radio was not alien to India, with AIR being a pioneer, but it’s potential had not been harnessed. “Radio like other mass media has the ability to move the masses. The radio landscape is now being altered for the best, with new entrants coming in and it is only a matter of time, when radio channels will be involved in the dissemination of news too.”
The school’s faculty member Sanjay Wadwalkar introduced the topic. Resident editor of a Hindi daily Prabhat Singh was Chief Guest of the valedictory function. He said values and ethics were relative and differed with each person’s perspective.
Academy of Broadcasting was set-up in the year 2003, by internationally renowned Radio Jockey Hardeep Singh Chandpuri, the person responsible for revolutionising the radio scene in north India.
The medium of radio, which was once considered to be the synonym of boredom for the youngsters, achieved brand new heights with his fresh style of presentation and today it is his name that is associated with the complete ‘makeover’ of the radio scene in the northern region.
