Awarded second place at the 'Mystery Check 2009'
Even before they leave home, visitors of Zell am See and Kaprun are well looked-after. That is what the renowned 'Mystery Check' has confirmed just recently. For the last six years IRS Consult AG and the travel insurance company Mondial Assistance have joined forces to find and award prizes to the best quality service in the holiday regions of Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. In 2009 Zell am See-Kaprun is among the undisputed winners of the study: the panel awarded the region in the heart of the province of Salzburg second place in the category of 'E-Mail'. The founders of the 'Mystery Check' handed over the diploma at the world's leading travel trade show, ITB Berlin, last Wednesday.People who are ready for a break increasingly turn to the Internet for information on potential destinations. This results in a considerable increase in inquiries via e-mail. But there are great differences in the quality of the replies that people receive from the respective guest services. Quite often those do not reach the standards set by the Mystery Check. The guest service of Zell am See-Kaprun has now shown exactly how to please prospective guests: in comparison with more than 5,000 holiday destinations, the region did outstandingly well and came in second in the national ranking. In six-year comparison, the twin towns are among the 15 best holiday regions in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
For this field study carried out by IRS Consult AG and Mondial Assistance, an affiliate of Allianz SE, testers sent out private e-mails containing inquiries for overnight accommodation to about 5,000 tourism destinations in November 2008. A team of experts then evaluated the answers according to criteria such as 'answering behaviour', 'time taken', 'offers made', and 'forwarding to places of accommodation'. In the eyes of the jurors, Zell am See-Kaprun did exceptionally well at all these points. The guest service is really pleased with this result, and so is Hans Wallner, managing director of Zell am See-Kaprun Tourismus GmbH, who received the diploma in the name of the service team at the ITB in Berlin: 'We set great store by making our guests feel really at home from the very first moment they make contact with us.' The 'Mystery Check' only confirmed the success of this concept, he said. 'This prize is mainly due to our guest service team who reply to hundreds of inquiries day after day and literally do a great job there', said Wallner.

The holiday region of Zell am See-Kaprun with its 14,000 beds and two million overnight stays per year is one of the most important holiday destinations in Austria. The beautiful flora and fauna in the Alpine panorama and Lake Zell guarantee relaxation and well-being. Golfing, hiking, and bathing are at the focus for the summer time programme, but visitors can choose from more than 40 other activities as well. During the cold season, fun on skis and boards make sure that there is no dull moment. Skiers can comfortably reach the 138 kilometres of slopes covered with powder snow by one of the 54 lifts. Snowboarders enjoy the perfect conditions of the Snowpark on the 2,600-metre-high glacier plateau. Even in the summer you can swish down the slopes here. And family-friendliness is a top priority in Zell am See and Kaprun. For this reason, the region has already received various awards.

Tourism experts are looking forward to the 'castlecamp' at Kaprun from 13th Sept …
It is general practice among the visitors of a 'barcamp' to take home a sticker once the 'unconference' has finished. That way, the participants want to say, 'I was in on that.' The idea is not really new. For decades, travellers have collected that kind of souvenirs of their holiday destinations and stuck them to their suitcases. It's the 'barcamps' themselves that are new. They have only been organized for…

Anyone who has ever been in the audience of a large conference, congress, or seminar, maybe even for several days in a row, knows that phenomenon only too well: there are set schedules to be followed, hours of talks and lots of useless information to be listened to.
