Securitization Industry Gathers in Miami Beach in Support of Hurricane Relief

Information Management Network (IMN) is moving ahead with its annual Miami Beach conference, ABS East, this weekend, which attracts the top level Wall Street investment banks and financial service providers as attendees.

“This decision to move forward was based on clear feedback from local officials in the Miami Beach area that recovery efforts were well underway and that our presence in the area would be a welcome sign of support to help in economic recovery efforts and to restoring a sense of normalcy” said Julius Hill, Chief Executive Officer of IMN.

This sentiment was echoed by the Mayor of Miami Beach, Philip Levine, who said:
"The City of Miami Beach is proud to welcome the delegation of the 23rd Annual ABS East conference and we are thankful for the support of the securitization industry in light of the challenges our city and the state of Florida have faced in recent days. Organizers and the 125 sponsors of the event have already donated $100K to Volunteer Florida, the lead agency for volunteerism and national service in Florida, administering $31.7 million in federal, state, and local funding for national service and volunteer programs across the state. Executive Director Richard Johns of the Structured Finance Industry Group, the leading trade association representing the securitization industry, said “SFIG plans make an additional contribution of $100,000 to relief efforts, and will be actively partnering with IMN to seek opportunities for members to support relief efforts at a "hands on" level.”

“We’re looking forward to once again attending the ABS East Conference in Miami Beach next week,” said Bob Behal, Principal, Vanguard Fixed Income Group and featured speaker at the conference. “This will be Vanguard’s ninth time participating at the conference, an event that plays an important role in bringing together thousands of professionals from the structured investment product industry. Onsite relief efforts will include activities such as collating care packages to disseminate via the United Way to emergency responders working throughout the state, in-between meetings and educational sessions.
