Rockland County YMCA to Offer New Aquatics Programs
Everybody in the Pool!

Nyack, NY, September 2017
The Rockland County YMCA encourages children and adults in Rockland County to explore the many benefits of swimming. In Y swim programs, participants can enjoy water sports, enhance or learn new techniques, meet new friends and develop confidence, while also learning safety skills that can save lives. “Swimming is a fun and enjoyable activity and it’s an easy way to stay physically active and improve strength, flexibility and stamina,” said Jessica Keavney Aquatics Director at the Rockland County YMCA.

The YMCA is committed to providing as many opportunities as possible for everyone to swim and learn water safety practices so we are expanding our programming to offer more opportunities. Our new aquatics programs include:

• Adaptive Group Swim classes, which are a specialized group swim lesson for children with developmental disabilities and their parent or caregiver. These classes will be offered on Saturdays from 2:30-3. Parents and their children (ages 2– 12) will be in the water together and parents will learn how to work with their child to create a love of the water and good aquatic safety skills.

• Adapted Private lessons for children with developmental disabilities and their parent or caregiver will be offered on Sunday from 11-11:30.

• An Adult Masters Class is a great way for advanced adult swimmers to come together and get in a great work out in the pool. An experienced Master Instructor will be there to design and facilitate the workout sessions. Offered on Thursdays from 6:45-7:30pm.

• Swim Club for ages 8-16. Swim club will meet twice a week and is for kids who have passed level 6 and want to prepare for swim team, or love swimming but do not necessarily have the time commitment for a swim team. Practices will be designed and facilitated by a certified swim coach. To be accepted into swim club you must attend an evaluation session
