In 2015, the value of search system and instrument production in the U.S. amounted to $39.1B, waning by -5.3% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. search system and instrument output pursued a measured decline from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -1.9%. The trend pattern was relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +3% from the previous year level. In that year, the value of shipments of search system and instrument in the United States attained its maximum level of $46.4B. From 2012 to 2015, the search system and instrument production yet failed to recover to its maximum levels.

Search, detection, navigation, and guidance systems and equipment was the major product category in the U.S. search system and instrument manufacturing, with a share in total output standing near 89% in 2015.
