Abstract:
In 2015, the value of electronic computer production in the U.S. amounted to $9.2B, rising by +12.7% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. electronic computer output pursued a prominent decline from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -18.3%. The trend pattern, however, was roller-coasting throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015, when the output figure increased by +13% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of electronic computer shipments in the United States attained its maximum level of $38.0B in 2008. Afterwards, the growth in terms of the electronic computer production failed to regain its strength through to 2015.

Host computers, multiusers (mainframes, super computers, midrange servers, blade servers, UNIX servers, PC servers) was the major product category in the U.S. electronic computer manufacturing, with a share in total output standing near 64% in 2015. Single user computers, microprocessor-based, capable of supporting attached peripherals (personal computers, workstations, portable computers, smart handheld devices) lagged far behing, accounting for only the 26% share. The other related products together comprised approx. 11% of the total output.
