Wind turbine gear oil is a lubricant used in the gearbox of a wind turbine to reduce friction between the moving components inside the box. To step-up the rotational speeds of 30 rpm-60 rpm to 1,500-1,800 rpm, a complex assortment of gears is required. The bearings in the gearboxes are expected to take extremely high loads. The operating requirements of a gearbox vary widely. At times, the bearings are expected to carry medium-sized loads at low speeds, while at other times they are expected to carry much lower loads at relatively high speeds.
