In 2015, the value of cut stock and resawing lumber production in the U.S. amounted to $5.6B, coming down by -18.4% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. cut stock and resawing lumber output pursued a moderate growth from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014, when the output figure increased by +17% from the previous year level. In that year, the value of shipments of cut stock and resawing lumber production peaked at $6.9B, falling back in the following year.

Softwood lumber, made from purchased lumber accounted for the highest share (25% in 2015) of U.S. cut stock and resawing lumber manufacturing, leaving a considerable room for hardwood cut stock and dimension (21%). The other related products with less notable individual shares together comprised approx. 54% of the total output.
