Rotary spreaders work through a rotating disk mechanism at the bottom of the hopper and are used for spreading evenly sized, dry fertilizers. There are various other kinds of spreaders such as broadcast spreader and Liquid fertilizer spreader.

Broadcast spreader is the most popular and widely used spreader, however, it is mostly used in the handheld form for small lawns. Asia Pacific and North America are major markets followed by Europe.
