BMW Tennis Championship Announces Jack Heilig as Event PR Consultant
Sunrise, FL -- The BMW Tennis Championship has hired veteran sports publicity and entertainment promotions specialist, Jack Heilig, as its event public relations consultant.The tennis event seeks to capitalize on its ability to attract top 20 ranked players and the best up-and-coming talent from the Association of Tennis Professional (ATP) ranks.
"As the BMW Tennis Championship strives to continue to elevate its event status, I feel it is extremely important that we take advantage of opportunities to have highly respected and proven industry professionals join our tournament staff," said Gabe Norona, the tournament's director and co-owner. "Jack's abilities and expertise in this arena are well known to us, and we have been impressed already with some of the early initiatives he has taken."
"The BMW Tennis Championship is a special product with tremendous promotional value," said Jack Heilig. "The Sunrise Tennis Club Park provides a great intimate venue to watch tennis played at its highest level, and I look forward to contributing to the tournament's growth."
Heilig will be responsible for overseeing all public relations efforts including media relations, press event operations and website content management.
Heilig, who recently established his own consultancy, enjoys more than 20 years of public relations, marketing and business development experience. The North Miami native and graduate from the University of South Florida has held senior level management and staff positions for high-profile sporting events that include the Olympic Games, Super Bowl, NASCAR Championships, NCAA Championships and major college bowl games.
The BMW Tennis Championship, which is slated for March 15-22, 2009 is in its sixth year as a key stop between two ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events (the BNP Paribas Open -- formerly the Pacific Life Open-and Sony Ericsson Open, played just 45 minutes short of Sunrise). The date of the BMW Tennis Championship enables the entry list to consistently host a field of top 50 players. Past participants have featured established and up-and-coming international players such as Todd Martin (USA), Gustavo Kuerten (Brazil), Sebastien Grosjean (France), Gael Monfils (France), Fernando Gonzales (Chile), Nicolas Massu (Chile), Guillermo Canas (Argentina), Juan Martin Del Potro (Argentina), Kei Nishikori (Japan), Thomas Enqvist (Sweden), Dominik Hrbaty (Slovakia) and Gilles Simon (France).
