Global bean (dry) production amounted to 27,365 thousand tonnes in 2015, rising by +3.1% against the previous year level. Overall, the global bean (dry) output pursued a pronounced growth from 2007 to 2015. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +3.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2010, when the output figure increased by +13% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global bean (dry) production attained its maximum volume of 27,365 thousand tonnes in 2008. From 2009 to 2015, the total bean (dry) output growth failed to regain its strength.

Over the analyzed period, an increase in global bean (dry) production was primarily driven by popularity of healthy eating and growth of population. Furthermore, these key drivers are expected to continue promoting the bean (dry) output in the immediate term. This general positive trend was largely conditioned by a measured expansion of the harvested area and solid gains of the yield figures.

The countries with the highest levels of production in 2015 were Myanmar (4,998 thousand tonnes), India (4,217 thousand tonnes), Brazil (3,494 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 46% of total output. From 2007 to 2015, the most notable growth rates in almond production among the main producing countries was attained by Myanmar (+7.4% per year), while the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The world bean (dry) harvested area amounted to 31,174 thousand ha in 2015, which was 1.8% more than the previous year figure. The harvested area indicated a slight increase over the period under review, representing a compound annual growth rate of +0.8% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern was relatively stable throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the total bean (dry) harvested area peaked in 2015, and is likely to continue its expansion in the immediate term, following rising demand for bean (dry) globally.

The global average bean (dry) yield amounted to 9 thousand hg/ha in 2015, rising by 1.3% from the previous year figure. The yield figures recorded an upward trend over the period under review, with a compound annual growth rate standing at +2.3% from 2007 to 2015. However, the yield levels displayed some little fluctuations over the recent years. The highest bean (dry) yields were recorded in 2015. Albeit an intensification of modern agricultural technics use, the future yield figures subject to a substantional risk of adverse weather conditions.
