Russell Bedford names Fordham & Oshry Inc. as new member firm in Johannesburg, South Africa
Russell Bedford International has announced the appointment of Fordham & Oshry Inc. as the global audit network's new member firm in Johannesburg, South Africa.Fordham & Oshry Inc. is a successful firm of Chartered Accountants based in Randburg, part of the Johannesburg metropolitan area. The firm has a wealth of knowledge and experience from its long history. It was originally formed in 1934 under the name Pollard & Lewin. The name changed to Lewin Krawitz Sacks and Oshry in 1983, and then to Fordham and Oshry in 2000. In 2006, Kidd Stott Oshry Inc., a firm established in 1952, was merged into Fordham and Oshry and the new firm was converted from a partnership to an incorporated entity.
The firm has three partners who are all Chartered Accountants, Members of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, and Registered Auditors. All three partners served their articles with the firm.
Darryl Fordham is an audit partner and chairman of the managing board of partners. He began his career at the firm in 1992 while studying for his BCompt degree. He became a partner in 2001. In addition to his audit role, Darryl is the partner in charge of staff. He is the firm's training officer and is a registered staff competency assessor.
Mark Klinkert is the firm's second audit partner. He joined the firm in 1997, serving his articles whilst studying for his BCom degree at the University of Johannesburg. He then spent some time with another mid-tier practice before re-joining the firm in 2003. As well as being an audit partner for major clients, Mark is the partner in charge of maintenance of software tools and is also a registered staff assessor.
Dave Oshry began his articles in 1967, qualifying through the University of South Africa. He practiced as an audit partner from 1979. More recently, Dave's responsibilities have refocused on the Wills, Estates, Trusts and Tax departments of the firm, as well as control of the firm's accounting administration.
In total, the firm has approximately 50 personnel. It has some 2000 clients covering a broad range of industries, and handles around 500 audit engagements and 500 accounting engagements.
The principal focus of Fordham & Oshry Inc. is on audit work. Having undergone a review by both the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors in April 2008 and the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE), the firm is currently one of just 15 audit firms in South Africa that have been accredited to perform Category ‘A’ statutory audits (audits of widely-held entities including listed companies) under the country’s amended Companies Act.
