White House Candidate Imperato on Italy and Silvio Berlusconi after public debate against Romano Prodi

London – Today 2008 White House Contender, and prominent Italian American, Daniel Imperato, voiced his opinions on Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi after the debates between Berlusconi and his opposition Romano Prodi.

“I would like to take a moment to step up to greet the Italian people and the country of Italy in support of Silvio Berlusconi. I come out to talk to the Italian people and ask them to work with Prime Minister Berlusconi in accordance with his desire to create greater diplomatic relations between US and Italy including more trade and business development.”

Imperato supports increased relations with Italy, and Berlusconi’s efforts towards improving the banking and corruption situation in Italy.

“I understand that Berlusconi visited the US during the NIAF (National Italian American Foundation) affair in Washington D.C. and addressed increased trade between Italy and the US. I am sorry to say that I was not able to attend. I support Silvio Berlusconi’s efforts of revitalizing Italy and industry in Italy along with a more stern policy on banking and corruption.”

Some people have questioned Berlusconi because of his profitable media conglomerate and previous business ventures, but Imperato felt that Berlusconi truly cares for the Italian people.

“While we all know that there have been questions regards his business acumen, I should say, in support of Silvio, that we all have our business ventures in the past that may or may not have been to the likings of all and may not please all. In life there is no way that we can please all. I point out that Silvio Berlusconi has become a much more mature and polished Berlusconi for Italy, its citizens, and for the future of Italy.”

“I believe that Mr. Berlusconi has matured himself from businessman to Prime Minister and has come to realize that his position as leader and Prime minister of Italy is very important and vital to the people of his country. I believe that he has compassion for his people and he would sincerely like to see Italy grow its economy.

Imperato’s view of Italy was one of a bridge between Eastern and Western Europe, old world and new world, where opportunity can flourish.

“I publicly believe that Italy is a strategically positioned country in the European Union, especially the South of Italy, where east meets west. I am a strong supporter of business development in the region and would like the opportunity to work with Berlusconi and Italy in the future. I look forward to representing the US in 2008 and increasing trade and development between the two countries.”
