XClinical and Asklep Inc. present at the 12th Annual DIA Workshop

XClinical is exhibiting at the DIA Workshop in Tokyo, Japan, together with Asklep, one of Japan’s largest CROs.

XClinical GmbH, Munich, Germany – Jan 15, 2009 – XClinical, a European vendor of innovative software products for eClinical trials, today announced its participation at the 12th Annual DIA Workshop for Clinical Data Management to be held on Jan 29 to Jan 30, 2009, in Tokyo, Japan. As in the last year XClinical will exhibit together with Asklep, one of Japan’s leading CROs, promoting the MARVIN EDC system. Asklep and XClinical have been collaborating to bring the MARVIN EDC system to the Japanese market. In January 2008 a Strategic Licensing and Development Agreement between the two companies was signed. Furthermore, the Japenese version of MARVIN entered the market in July, 2008.

MARVIN is a web-based EDC system designed by investigators and has been in use in various countries for the past six years. As one of the first EDC systems being CDISC compliant and CDISC ODM certified it is able to transfer data across different systems in the eClinical chain. The CDISC ODM e-protocol technology system can also provide the shortest set-up time within industry.

The main topic for the 12th DIA Workshop in Tokyo is to improve the quality of trials and to provide ideas for data management activities. The meeting will deliver information about the Japanese clinical data management processes. “Entering the Japanese Market we had to learn about several special features an EDC system needs to provide.” Said Dr. Claus Lindenau, Head of Business Development at XClinical. ”Talking about quality concerning an EDC system you must consider things which seem trivial but are of utmost importance in daily use in Japan. In terms of usability, you need to implement the Japanese character set not only in the data capture area but also in the reporting tool or the creation of pdf files. Through the co-operation with Asklep we found a perfect partner to cope with this task.” Dr. Lindenau and Olga Steinle, also a member of the business development team, will be available for discussing the role of the company’s software products regarding quality management, quality assurance and reliability.
