FlexRay/CAN Gateway with up to four CAN Interfaces

FlexRay/CAN Gateway with up to four CAN Interfaces

The FlexRay/CAN Gateway software package enables the user to set up a flexible and configurable gateway for the transmission of FlexRay messages and signals to CAN, based on the FlexRay CCM or the FRC-EP150 hardware platform. In case of using the new FlexRay platform FRC-EP150, easy user configurable gateways with up to four CAN interfaces are possible.
The transmission can be performed in both directions and is especially useful for applications where existing CAN-based measurement and control technology has to be integrated into FlexRay environments. In addition, data exchange from CAN-to-CAN and FlexRay-to-FlexRay is possible.

The FlexRay/CAN Gateway consists of a PC based configuration software and a gateway runtime license, which is executed on the hardware platform.
The graphical user interface of the configuration software enables the easy allocation of signals on the FlexRay bus to signals on the CAN bus.
The signals specified in the Fibex bus description file or CANdb can be selected and allocated via drag & drop. The software supports the user by suggesting signals with relevant names. If no description file is available, the user can also specify the messages or signals manually.

The transfer of the necessary files and code to the hardware platform can be done by using a download dialogue. At this, the user can decide whether to store the configuration in the RAM or in the FLASH memory of the hardware platform. By using the FLASH memory, the configuration is power down resistant and will be started automatically upon every power on. After a successful download, a connection to the PC is no longer necessary since the gateway application runs independently of the PC.
