SMIITY guides you through the "Past" in the Medieval Market of Óbidos

Lisbon, July 11 2017: From July 13, Óbidos returns to the past and SMIITY too. The mobinteg app that allows cities to interact with citizens and tourists once again shows its versatility by attending the Medieval Market of Óbidos, giving visitors real-time information about the available shows and taverns.

Beacons, small emitters of signals that send contextual information to the user's smartphone via Bluetooth, were installed in the grounds of the Medieval Market of Óbidos, namely at Terreiro de Armas (Liça), where the knight tournaments and the training of the Guard will take place, and the Bards Square, stage of fire, music, dance and theater shows.

In addition, in the Events section, the "time travelers" will be able to find the complete schedule for each weekend of Óbidos Medieval Market, so that no show remains to be seen. If you want a traditional meal or drink, you can find all the taverns on SMIITY’s map, duly identified with Medieval Market of Óbidos’s icon.

For visual impaired visitors, SMIITY provides a text-to-speech functionality, which transforms text into audio without the need for additional equipment.

And, if you want to stay in Óbidos for a few more days and discover more about this historic village, SMIITY will be your ideal tourist guide, giving you all the points of interest of the county from galleries, museums, monuments and even bars and restaurants, as well as news and other events taking place simultaneously with the Medieval Market.

The Medieval Market of Óbidos runs from July 13 to August 6, from Thursday to Sunday.

Augmented Reality and Interactive Maps

SMIITY has new search features, including the map. The user can now choose the one that is, to him, the best way: Augmented Reality, filters by categories, navigation in cards or navigation in map.

In the case of Augmented Reality, the user can activate this feature by selecting the AR+ button in the upper right corner of the screen. Once selected, the smartphone camera opens and by pointing it around you will see the total of points of interest around you within a radius of 800 meters.

If you are interested in a specific category, you can first resort to filters. Just open the map, click on the funnel icon in the upper right corner, and choose one or more search
categories, such as Museums, Monuments, Castles and Forts, Accommodation, among others. After choosing and saving the wanted filters, the map will only display points of interest corresponding to the categories selected by the user.

In addition to these options, SMIITY now allows you to search for points of interest... by cards! By clicking on the List icon (the last one in the upper right corner of the map), the user can navigate between points of interest of the city through cards, with an image and a pre-description of the available POIs. By clicking on one of these cards, you will have access to the complete information of each point of interest.

Finally, if you prefer a more "traditional" search, theres’s nothing like navigating the map and unlocking the POIs that are not visible with a touch on an empty map area. Soon other points of interest will be ready to explore!
