LYRIC THE HUSKY IS HERE

WolfJump Publications announced today that the first three books in what is to be a ten-book children’s book series has been released for distribution exclusively in Alaska and will be distributed by Todd Communications, Inc (Anchorage, AK). The series follows the life and times of Lyric, a Siberian husky, starting with his rescue by a lonesome young girl named Rainah. Book 1, A Home for a Husky, relates the story of Lyric’s adoption and the forming of an initial bond between girl and dog. In Book 2, A Husky Howl-o-Ween, Rainah teaches Lyric how to howl – just in time for his first Halloween. In Book 3, A Husky Holiday, Lyric saves his town’s Christmas. Ten percent of Wolf Jump Publication’s profits from the sale of the books will be donated to husky rescue organizations.

Author Rebecca Wolf Jump says that the books “… are first and foremost about a depth of bonding that comes only via shared experience. Lyric and Rainah find and, in one sense, rescue each other in Book1. Each of their respective senses of solitude, of going through life alone, is banished. In Book1 when Rainah names the husky “Lyric,” this is the moment when the bond between them is formed; she knows him well enough to name him in a way that has meaning for her. In Books 2 and 3, they set off on adventures that give a deeper keel to that initial friendship. So, these first three books create an attachment point between the girl and her dog, and between those two and the reading audience.”

Author Wolf Jump says that the series is intended for young readers to grow up with. “As the series develops, so too the themes it deals with become more mature. Books 4-10 focus on values, such as Lyric and Rainah’s deep love for the outdoors and the extent they will go to in order to protect nature. And they will also, together, confront grief and loss. So, while these books offer great fun through an adventure series, the stories are also intermixed with a value-based perspective on the more serious sides of life.”

The books are illustrated in watercolor by the Thai artist, Ping Fahn. To read more about author and illustrator, go to www.TheHuskyTales.com.

Wolf Jump Publications consists of author Rebecca Wolf Jump and the illustrator, Thai artist Ping Fahn. Rebecca creates each Husky Tale by drawing on a reservoir of memories and the current-day antics of her own siberian husky, whom she rescued when he was a two-year-old about to be euthanized for lack of a home. Rebecca thinks of the books as a way for kids to learn about love, friendship, humanity, respect for nature and -at times- about transcending grief.

Artist and illustrator Ping Fahn grew up in Bangkok, Thailand. Ping started her love for drawing from watching Saturday morning cartoons and reading translated Japanese comic books. As a self-taught artist, Ping likes to work with water color and acrylic. Her favorite subjects are animals and children. Ping currently works as a graphic designer and illustrator part-time. She has two children and one cat, and lives in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
