Webtrekk appoints freenet CEO Christoph Vilanek as Chairman of the Board
Berlin-based customer intelligence provider Webtrekk today appointed freenet CEO Christoph Vilanek as Chairman of the Board.Vilanek has an extensive digital background. As CEO, he developed freenet from a pure mobile communication company to a diverse hub for today’s hyper-connected lifestyles, complete with services such as digital radio, DVB-T and IPTV. In the process, he has overseen more than €3 billion in turnover for the company.
His chief objective in his new role as Chairman of the Board is bringing that same sort of explosive growth to Webtrekk.
“Webtrekk is a growing digital company with huge strategic potential,” Vilanek says. “The big customer base of more than 400 businesses – among them BILD.de, ING DiBa, Hugo Boss, McDonald’s, FlixBus and Deutsche Telekom – proves that Webtrekk’s high-end analytics and marketing solutions can rival anything on the international market.”
Vilanek, who has served on the board of Ströer SE for four years, will support new Webtrekk CEO Wolf Lichtenstein, who helped turn US-based software provider SAS into a leading player in the DACH region.
“With Christoph we have found the perfect match”, says Lichtenstein, who also previously worked as a manager at McKinsey and Company. “There are not many managers in Germany who are as creative and tech-savvy as him, and who have executed as many new business models in the digital industry. His expertise will be indispensable as we take our company to the next level.”
Adds Vilanek: “As a customer intelligence company focusing on data ownership, Webtrekk is set for the future. With their software, businesses can make decisions based on complete and high-quality data.”
