CKPT Expands its Local Counsel Practice for Patent and IP cases in Texas

Cash Klemchuk Powers Taylor LLP (CKPT) is pleased to announce a development within the intellectual property practice. Fresh on the heels of a favorable outcome in the Northern District of Texas, the practice group has expanded its offerings to include service as local counsel for out-of-state parties involved in IP litigation. Intellectual property trial attorney, Darin M. Klemchuk will chair this practice and will be joined by a group of IP litigation attorneys including Katherine B. Bandy. “Our goal is to ensure each client facing litigation in the Northern District or the Eastern District of Texas is fully represented,” noted Mr. Klemchuk.

With significant experience in IP litigation, the Local Counsel practice will represent out-of-state plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state courts in patent litigation including Markman hearings, trademark infringement, and trade secret cases involving injunction proceedings, as well as copyright infringement disputes involving software, and business/commercial litigation. Additionally, the practice will support clients with arbitration, mediation, removal from state court to federal court, motions for remand, and foreign judgment domestication and collection.

“We want to assist clients in navigating the local rules in federal courts for the Northern District and Eastern District of Texas,” stated Ms. Bandy. CKPT’s intellectual property focused website, www.ckptip.com, offers a variety of tools including descriptions of local patent rules for the Northern and Eastern Districts, as well as schematic diagrams illustrating common timelines and an IP reference guide.

Darin M. Klemchuk focuses his practice on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and other intellectual property litigation and enforcement. In addition, Mr. Klemchuk has extensive experience representing clients in commercial and business disputes, particularly software development, trade-secret, and non-compete disputes. Recently named by D Magazine as one the “Best Lawyers in Dallas,” for the second year in a row, Mr. Klemchuk also focuses on intellectual-property licensing and technology agreements and serves as local counsel for out of state plaintiffs and defendants involved in patent, trademark, copyright, IP, and commercial litigation in the state and federal courts in Dallas, Texas.

Katherine B. Bandy’s practice is focused on intellectual property litigation and commercial litigation. She has a strong background in commercial disputes including, breach of contract disputes and professional negligence disputes. Ms. Bandy also has extensive experience with trade secret disputes in the oil and gas industry, the cosmetic industry, and the telecommunications industry.
