San Diego Chapter One, American Ex-Prisoners of War

SAN DIEGO, CA – Veteran’s organization; American Ex-Prisoners of War, San Diego Chapter announced their efforts to erect the 15’ tall statue titled: “The Liberation Moment” on the grounds of the soon-to-be-built Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery annex at MCAS Miramar. Fund raising has begun and progress on the statue has been significant.

The Fort Rosecrans annex will include an area dedicated to former POW Veterans. This will be the site where their POW designed statue “The Liberation Moment” will stand as a commemorative tribute to those Vets who have experienced the infamy of foreign captors in the service of our Country.

Members of the Chapter have been invited to broadcast live, from the deck of the USS Midway on the Veteran’s day special edition of the Roger Hedgecock radio show. The broadcast will take place from 3pm to 7pm, November 11, 2008. The USS Midway, permanently moored in San Diego Harbor, is a world-class Naval Museum and major regional attraction.

The San Diego Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War is made up of an active group of former POWs from America’s conflicts ranging from World War II to the most recent actions in Iraq and Afghanistan. These men and women are dedicated to a variety of Community Service activities, as well as serving the mental and emotional needs of those previously held in captivity.
