Veterans Comfort Home Receives $38,000 from Trusant

Columbia, MD. Trusant Technologies, a service-disabled veteran-owned company hosted the inaugural Trusant Technologies Eagle Classic golf tournament on September 19, 2008 to help care for families of injured veterans. Over 120 people played golf raising over $38,000 for the Fisher House, an organization that provides “comfort homes” for families visiting their loved ones who are receiving medical treatment after having been injured while serving their country.

Joe DiGangi and Vince Marucci are co-owners of Trusant Technologies and both are service-disabled veterans. “When we started the business in 2002 we committed to hiring veterans and also giving back to the community in a significant way. Little did I know that our entire team of employees, customers and business affiliates would step up this year in such a successful manner” said DiGangi as they presented the initial $35,000 check to Jim Weiskopf, Executive Vice President of Fisher House.

George Ruo, Trusant’s Director of Engineering Services honored two wounded veterans, Michelle Saunders and Justin Callahan, who also came to play golf and represent HireHeroesUSA. Ruo said “As a fellow soldier, I’ve been where you were, I’ve walked the same ground and faced the same foe, but I don’t know what you’re going through now. Thanks so very much for your service to our country.”

The 2nd Annual Trusant Technologies Eagle Classic Golf Tournament is already scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2009. “We are going to continue to support the Fisher House because they provide a home for the veterans families at a time when their support is critical to the veterans’ recuperation” said Marucci, “And we are honored to be able to contribute to such a special family-focused program.”

The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America’s military in their time of need and recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service.

Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates “comfort homes”, built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful times – during hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

There is at least one Fisher House located at every major military medical center to assist families in need and ensure the comforts of home in a supportive environment. Annually, the Fisher House program serves more than 10,000 families, and has made available nearly 2.5 million days of lodging to family members since the program originated in 1990.
