Yole & Fraunhofer EMFT seminar: The promising future of sensors in the IoT

Yole & Fraunhofer EMFT seminar: The promising future of sensors

As “sensory organs” of things, sensors are considered essential for the success of connected devices in IoT applications – but which chances and challenges does it hold for the European Industry and research landscape? The second joint MEMS seminar by Yole Développement and Fraunhofer EMFT on July 3 and 4 in Munich focusses on the key role of sensors in three essential IoT growth markets:

- Industrial IoT
- Building & Automation
- Future of Automotive

Top-level speakers (e.g. Audi, Bosch, Infineon) give insights into the technological requirements and trends from the industry perspective. Furthermore, (digital) production challenges and updates on sensor applications on the way to the "Next Big Thing" will be discussed. In addition to many exciting presentations from the user perspective, the seminar features two panel discussions and many networking opportunities.

Fraunhofer EMFT conducts cutting-edge applied research into sensors and actuators for people and the environment. The research activities of the research institution with approximately hundred employees in Munich, Oberpfaffenhofen and Regensburg focus on chemical sensor materials, silicon technologies, flexible electronics, micropumps and system integration. Based on this know-how, the employees create new kinds of sensors and actuators. Yet, the real strength of Fraunhofer EMFT lies in the interaction between its competences: after all, innovations often emerge where technologies reach their limits and begin to cross-fertilize. This enables the creation of innovative solutions for various business and application areas.
