Long Live Obama

Long Live Obama

Cologne, October, 2008 "Barack Obama and his life story are not just an example of living the American dream, but also proof that a person cannot just dream, but also realize the greatest dreams, with compassion, courage, honesty, hope, strength of purpose, fairness and, of course, hard work", says the Cologne musician Markus Schmerbeck. Inspired by this attitude, the artist known by the name CARPE produced 'Long Live Obama' a musical statement of gratitude for the probable future president of the United States of America.

The Cologne songwriter sent a CD with a personal letter across the great pond to Barack Obama. Should the song reach the recipient's ears and perhaps even touch his heart, may he understand it as not only good wishes, but even more: as a duty and an admonition. Not infrequently, politicians and great statesmen rapidly lose one thing in particular: their loyalty to their own values—and campaign promises.

CARPE believes, however: "We are witnesses to the election of an exceptional politician. His personality, his honesty, his unshakable belief in the good in people, but also his courage in dealing with the oil industry and other lobbyists are excellent, I find. Motivated by this feeling, I tailored the anthem specifically to Obama."
A song in which the expectations, desires and needs of people all over the world are heard. In light of the calls for his death that have become louder in recent days of the campaign, 'Long Live Obama' is also an emotional appeal to reason and tolerance CARPE is giving hope a voice.
