ADVANCED ENT HEAD & NECK SUGERY DETECTS INVASION OF PRIVACY AND THEFT OF PATIENT RECORDS

May 30th, 2017; Beverly Hills, CA – Advanced ENT Head & Neck Surgery has detected invasion of privacy and theft of patient records, which effects patients in over 16 States and 4 Countries. Upon becoming aware of a previous 1099 Driver/ Translator taking inappropriate photographs of patients, both before and during surgery, as well as the copying and theft of Patient Records, Advanced ENT Head & Neck Surgery reported the crimes to HSS, LA County Sheriff, Beverly Hills Police Department and Huntington Beach Police (via Palmdale Sheriff’s Office). The company is cooperating fully with all law enforcement authorities, and has been supporting investigations into the matter.

Advanced ENT Head & Neck Surgery has completed an internal investigation that involved the inspection of a Corporate Mobile Phone which was originally reported lost by the staffer, but was later recovered from the floor of the location where the staffer was escorted off the property by Palmdale Sheriffs office, after having been served 2 hours earlier with a restraining/ stay-away order. Despite having only recently being discovered, the breach, which affects thousands of patients, started shortly after the 1099 staffer was hired in September of 2016. The Staffer stole credit card information, debit card information, IDs, copies of checks, usernames, passwords, photographed our patients, prior to and during surgery, as well as, recording conversations. The breach involved patient information as well as information of the owner of the company, and corporate documents.

Unfortunately, the company no longer has contact details for the majority of the Patients effected, as all paper records and local data storages were stolen during a physical break-in of our records facility during the week of May 1st.
Advanced ENT Head & Neck Surgery will continue to assist law enforcement authorities in this matter. In addition, the company is working with pharmacies, and other companies within the medical community to ensure we are doing everything we can to protect your privacy, and security. Advanced ENT Head & Neck Surgery is also implementing additional security measures designed to prevent a recurrence of such thefts and invasions of privacy to protect our patients.

To Date, we have identified Patients with Residence in the following States: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, New York, Texas, and Virginia. (**residents of other states may be effected**)
Additionally, we have identified Patients with Residence in the following Countries: Bulgaria, France, and United Kingdom (**residents of other countries may be effected**)

Debit/ Credit Card Users:
• Change your numbers
• Review your accounts for unauthorized transactions
• Notify your banks immediately if you discover any unauthorized purchases or withdrawals or cash advances
