MOST Cooperation presents MOST150 for implementation in tomorrow's car models

Karlsruhe (Germany) 23rd September 2008 – The MOST Cooperation – the organization through which the leading automotive multimedia network Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) is standardized – will host the 9th MOST Interconnectivity Conference Asia on November 5th, 2008. At the JW Marriott Hotel in Seoul, South Korea, representatives of the MOST Cooperation will present to Asian carmakers and their suppliers an update on recent achievements of the organization and the MOST standardization roadmap. The Conference is open to the public.

During the morning session, members of the Steering Committee will give an overview which will be expanded by various member presentations in the afternoon as well as by various technical demonstrations. One demonstration will cover MOST50 and its electrical Physical Layer (ePhy). MOST50 was recently put on the road in various car models by Toyota. Other car makers will soon also launch cars with that technology.

Another multimedia demonstration will show the latest generation of MOST - MOST150 - that will hit the road within a couple of years. In addition to its higher bandwidth of 150 Mbps, MOST150 features an isochronous transport mechanism to support extensive video applications, as well as an Ethernet channel for efficient seamless transport of IP-based packet data. Thus, MOST150 provides the automotive-ready physical layer for Ethernet in the car. The demonstration will showcase the high bandwidth efficiency of MOST150, as well as high-speed Ethernet packet transport, multi-channel video streaming from HDD, as well as isochronous streaming of HDTV and SDTV.

Just recently, the MOST Cooperation has launched the MOST Specification Rev. 3.0 for the next generation infotainment backbone featuring a complete overhaul of the specification structure and offering several new features. While the specification is independent of speed grade, it can already work with the newly defined MOST150 physical layer.
